The live component

What the live sessions cover.

Harvard Online coursework is self-paced and pre-recorded. Between modules your cohort meets live — fortnightly, ninety minutes, facilitated by experienced practitioners — to practice what the coursework can only describe.

A live cohort session with participants joining globally

Making your case heard

Structuring and delivering a proposal so it lands with executives, boards and the people whose support you need. Practiced live, with feedback.

Difficult conversations

Handling resistance, disagreement and conflict — the conversations that decide whether a change effort survives contact with the organization.

Your own live challenge

Each session works on the real change effort you brought with you, with peer consultation and expert critique rather than hypothetical cases.

Strengths and self-management

Clarity on your personal strengths and derailers, and how to manage both under the pressure that sustained change creates.

Sessions are scheduled between Harvard modules, never on top of them. A certificate for the live executive component is awarded on completion.

Between the modules

Your practice never stops.

Harvard cohorts run a few times a year, so there are natural gaps between modules. Two things keep you moving through them — so the momentum never drops.

Self-paced human skills app

  • Over 150 hours of curated content, in short daily formats
  • Covers leadership, communication, critical thinking, creativity and emotional intelligence
  • Skill assessments with scoring, so progress is measured rather than assumed
  • Points, streaks and leaderboards to keep the habit alive between modules
  • Digital certification on completion
  • Twelve months of access, on web and mobile

Voca — AI-powered rehearsal

  • Rehearse presentations before you deliver them for real
  • Practice the difficult conversation as many times as you need
  • Mock interviews for the role your new credential opens up
  • CV review against the roles you are targeting
  • Private, on demand, with no audience and no schedule
  • Three months of access, timed to when you need it most
Detailed syllabus

What you study, module by module.

Each module is taught through real organizational cases, with assignments that apply the thinking to your own workplace.

Module two

Topics covered

03

Adaptive Leadership: Practical Strategies for Change

Module three

One of Harvard's proven approaches to making a difference in any group or organization — following five practitioners, all former students of the course, whatever your level of rank or authority.

Topics covered
  1. Mobilizing adaptive work — distinguishing technical from adaptive challenges, and treating resistance as a response to loss. Case: bringing the Vermont House of Representatives online during COVID-19
  2. Closing the gap between aspiration and reality — distinguishing leadership from authority, and channeling purpose into actionable goals. Case: closing the tech skills gap in Thailand
  3. Keeping the work at the center of focus — analyzing conflict, and disappointing people at a rate they can tolerate. Case: wrap-around care for substance use disorder in Ontario
  4. Building capacity, not dependency — giving work back to others and recognizing work avoidance. Case: lowering maternal mortality in Meghalaya, India
  5. Staying in the game — anticipating the risks of exercising leadership, and learning from setbacks. Case: moving Duolingo into English language learning
Learning outcomes

Navigate complexity and change

  • Recognize when challenges require adaptive approaches rather than technical solutions
  • Apply strategies to effectively address complex, evolving problems
  • Maintain focus and regulate stress during periods of change to ensure resilience and adaptability

Foster collaboration and empower others

  • Meet resistance by understanding its sources, knowing when and how to challenge people's perspectives, and cultivating shared leadership
  • Navigate conflict and opposing viewpoints to build trust and common ground

Drive progress on stubborn challenges

  • Balance tradition with experimentation to meet emerging needs
  • Enable environments where creative problem-solving can flourish
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and resilience

Common questions

Everything you might be wondering.

Do I need a technical or innovation background?

No. The program teaches frameworks for identifying problems, sourcing solutions and leading change — skills that apply in any function or industry.

Is there a recommended order?

Yes. We recommend Innovation Strategy first, then Open Innovation, then Adaptive Leadership. You are not required to follow that order to earn the Certificate of Specialization.

How much time will it take?

The program runs over ten months at roughly five to seven hours a week while a module is in progress. Harvard cohorts run a few times a year, so there are lighter gaps between modules where the live sessions and app keep you moving.

What does it cost, and how do I pay?

The program fee is USD 5,550 per participant, covering all three Harvard Online modules, the live sessions, twelve months of app access, Voca and advisor support. You may pay in full or in three interest-free installments of USD 1,850, one per module. We accept international cards and bank transfers, and organizations are invoiced directly. Discounts apply only when you pay in full; installment payments are not eligible for discounts.

What is Voca, and how do I use it?

Voca is SkillsPro360's AI-powered practice tool. You can rehearse a presentation, run a mock interview, or have your CV reviewed — privately, on demand, as many times as you like. Three months of access are included, timed to the point in the program where it is most useful.

Who awards the certificate?

Harvard Online. On completing the program you receive your certificate directly from Harvard Online. SkillsPro360 is a delivery partner — we are not Harvard University.

What if I miss a deadline or need to pause?

Cohorts run to fixed deadlines, but the program is built around the natural gaps between Harvard cohorts. If work demands it, you can take a break between modules and join a later cohort — your advisor will map a revised route with you.

What support do I get from SkillsPro360?

You are assigned a program advisor throughout, and your enrollment includes live instructor-led sessions with expert coaches plus Voca, our AI-powered practice tool for interviews, presentations and CV review.

How do I receive my certificate?

Harvard Online issues your certificate, and SkillsPro360 posts the hard copy to your home address, usually six to eight weeks after you are notified of your eligibility. You also receive a Certified Electronic Credential to share on LinkedIn.

Lead change. Prove it with Harvard Online.
